WN3000RPv3 Username login failure after firmware update
I use two Wifi Range Ext as Access points on my network. They each have their own Static IP. It was working fine, and I saw there is a firmware update (V.xxx.50 I think) after the update, routers...

Same problem here with a WN3000RPV3
Looks like this firmware has been released without quality assurance test.

I have the same problem today:
- Connected to WN3000RPv3 – N300 WiFi Range Extender using "admin" username.
- Upgrade firmware to a version ending with ".50".
- The extender is working correctly, but I am not able to access it anymore: error message "invalid username" when trying to log in as admin (I am 100% sure that the username and password are correctly entered).
I unplugged and replugged the extender, but did not reset the factory settings.
Any idea?
Thanks!

The feedback from engineering is there is no alternative method available other than to factory reset the extender . Once reset you can setup a login email account with Password recovery options and security questions.

I have had three of these units (two replacements under warranty) and all three have failed in the same way - which is that the extender loses its connexion with the router and thus no longer provides internet connectivity. Sometimes it is possible to still connect to the extender via the web-facing control panel, sometimes not. I have tried a bunch of things, including updating the firmware, but the only remedy is a power cycle. Then the extender will work for maybe a few hours before it fails again.
I have read my problem reported in various online forums. It's clearly a common problem, but there are no clear solutions.
This is clearly a different problem from the one reported in the start of this thread, but I want to illustrate that there are a number of problems with this. I suspect it is a basic design flaw or quality issue that affects a significant number of users.
Netgear support under warrany is a complete joke also. All they will do is replace the unit with another of the same model, which for me has been a total waste of time.
I won't be buying Netgear ever again, and I am taking every opportunity to spread the news. A company that is happy to serve up such excrecrable hardware deserves no custom, in my view.

*CORRECTION*
Pardon me - my device is an older model - the WN2000RPTv3.

I met this problem too. admin is invalid username.
Fixed it by taking a factory reset. and create a new username.
