I'm using almost the exact same combo (I have the D6300 and WN3500RP) and streaming is working flawlessly. I haven't upgraded the extender though, it's running firmware V1.0.0.18_1.0.59.
Any chance you could try upgrading/downgrading the firmware of the extender? What version is it running currently?
