WNDR3400v1 won't connect to Internet after connecting HP B209 wirless printer

I have a WiFi network at home using Netgear WNDR3400v1 router. I have desktops, laptops, iPAD, & iPhone connected and work fine. But every time I turn on HP B209 wireless printer, anything connect to WiFi won't be able to connect to internet. All the wireless devices are still connected to WIFI and can see the printer. The desktops are able to connect to Internet in the mean time b/c they are Ethernet connected. To resolve the issue, I have to turn off the B209 and reset the WNDR3400v1. Does anyone have any idea what's the issue?

Check to be sure your printer is not trying to make a direct connection is the only thing I can think of
  • There is numerous thread on HP wifi printer causes the internet issues.

Search the forum. This is not netgear model specific.

Bunch of HP printer owner has post thread just like this
  • By direct connection do you mean via USB? No, I can see the printer on the WIFI with IP -192.168.1.13 and I can send print job to it from my laptop. My issue is my WIFI connected deices can no longer access Internet except my desktops.
  • When I 1st set up HP b209 wirless printer everything worked fine. I just started having Internet issue about 6 months ago. Not sure if this was caused by the firmware update I've done. But I'll check out the forum as you suggested.

I mean a direct wifi connection not a usb. I could wrong, but I thought some printers had the option to connect via wifi "AD HOC" and if your router changed channel with FW update it could now be a problem.

    Just trying help!

If after firmware upgrade cause the issues then,

Make sure you have hard reset after you did.
I would even hard reset the router and test again. Is still the same then try to revert the firmware

    Support.netgear.com and download prior firmware
  • After extensive search on the forum and few trial & error, I came to the conclusion the best way to resolve this issue is to restore my WNDR3400v1 firmware to version 1.0.0.38. I've tested the wireless printer and Internet connection after the downgrade and everything seem working. Hopefully this is it.
  • Sometime firmware can breaks the feature it also fixes other bugs

    Glad you figure it out

    Enjoy
