2 quick issues powerline 1000

Hi there -

3 quick questions.

1) When I plug in my two adaptors - the pick a plug LEDS stay lit for a while but when I check half an hour later they are both off. Why is this and does this mean, whilst off, that the booster isn't working?

2) If I use the ethernet cable in the router/hub does it matter that my adaptor in the other room doesn't use this cable? ( there's nothing for it to go into )

3)  Should the adaptor be in the other room ( that the hub isn't in) or half way in between ?

       You wish.

What, exactly, are they?  Look for "Model" on the product labels.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number(s), and
look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.  Look
for "Troubleshoot".  Further reading might not hurt, either.

What, exactly, does "booster" mean to you?  What does Netgear call
    it?

What, exactly, is your (unspecified) "the router/hub"?

An Ethernet cable normally has two ends.  What, exactly, are you
connecting to what, exactly?  (Hint: If a device has different types of
ports, then "connected to device" is not enough detail.)

You don't need to use the Ethernet port on a PLWxxxx model.  A PLxxxx
model without an Ethernet connection would be pointless.

    > or half way in between ?

If you're refering to a PLWxxxx model, then it should go where it
works best.  Its ability to communicate with the other Powerline adapter
depends on the power wiring.  I'd expect some pairs of outlets (for both
adapters) to work better than others.  Its ability to communicate with
wireless devices depends on its placement with respect to the wireless
client devices. Predicting the performance of any (invisible)
arangement is impractical; experiment is much more reliable.
