AC1750 R6400v2 No Longer Connecting to Internet After Update

I have an older AC1750 that I used to use a while ago. It has sat unused for a few years but recently I had to use it again as a temporary solution. I powered it up, connected it to our fiber ONT, and factory reset it (as I had forgotten the network password).

For a half day or so it seemed fine. I connected to the router (to change the SSID and password to something non-default) and a popup appeared to update the firmware, which I figured was wise so I went ahead and did that. Within a few minutes of the router powering back up the connection to the internet went out, and nothing I have done can get it back. I have factory reset the router a few times, power cycled the router and the ONT, and verified the link between the router and the ONT (both with the activity lights and in the router admin webpage). All seems well, but the router reports no internet connection.

Attached are some screenshots from the admin webpage. All lights on the ONT seem happy, including the link between the ONT and the router. I verified that the ethernet cable from the ONT to the modem is plugged into the correct port on both devices. I have tried both wired and wireless, and neither work. Below is the log from when I last logged in, showing nothing particularly special except an internet disconnected message (bolded). Can anyone give me any tips to solve this?

  • It's included in the original post, but for clarity the firmware is V1.0.4.128_10.0.104.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

Does the top Internet LED on the router turn AMBER when this happens? If so, means something from the ONT is not getting to the router or the service is stopping.

Factory reset and setup from scratch after the FW was updated? Don't enable any additional features like Access Controls, Circle or Traffic Meter.

        Thanks for the reply!!

The ONT is a CTC Union GSW-1005MS. The ONT’s fiber link and LAN 1 lights both are amber. On the router, the internet LED is solid amber (with occasional traffic flicker).

The router was power cycled and factory reset a few times after the firmware update was applied.

I verified by checking every menu, all access controls are disabled.

The LAN cable seems high quality. It was the one given to me by the ISP. I tried swapping to different cable and nothing changed (LEDs and access to the internet and status on the router’s webpage).
