AC1750 Smart Wifi Router - Router speeds are slower than modem
AC1750 Smart Wifi Router
Wifi5
Model R6350.
Firmware version: V1.1.0.84_1.0.1
I've been monitoring my wifi speeds for the last week on 5G network.
ISP is providing up to 200Mbps.
However, when I run the speed test from the NightHawk App, it displays Download speeds of ~80 - 90 mbps on 5G.
I have contacted my ISP and completed a WIRED speed test from my gaming console to my the ISP's Modem and determined that the modem is getting close to 200 Mbps download.
I've seen other folks with the same problem and it appears that all you have to do is change the wifi channel. So I updated the channel settings on 5G from '153' to 'Auto' thinking that would be the best option since I dont know which channel is going to be the best for my area.
I do not know what else to do here and would like some help in figuring out how to get the most optimal speeds for my Wifi.
Thanks

when you test the speeds on the nighthawk app, its not always a good choice.
Reason why is that it hosts the test on the router (not on the device you're testing with) and it doesn't always choose the most appropriate server to test off.
IF your wired speeds from the router are hitting 200mbps, then its getting its full speeds.
So try testing using the actual speedtest app and try several different servers on there.
Also, the ps5's speedtest (even though it hit full speed this time) isn't the most reliable either.
A pc/desktop hardwired in is the best way to test. And to try different sites/servers as well.

Do you have any suggestions as to which site to use when testing off of a PC?

speedtest . net (try different servers on there, not just one)
fast.com
dslreports
all of them have speedtests. and when you get above a certain speed even they struggle to saturate speeds.
