Bad Request 400 from router Genie software on WNDR4300

I have been using the online interface at http://192.168.1.1/adv_index.htm for years without problems.
Now, every time I try to alter my MAC address filtering I get that 400 when I click to apply adding or blocking a device:
No matter which of the red-framed buttons I try to click, the result is the same - 400 Bad request.  I tried clearing cache, using an incognito window, I tried on windows desktop and Android phone.  The symptoms are the same.  I am effectively unable to control my MAC filtering anymore.  Everything else in that interface works just fine, and I am fairly certain the issue started after the last firmware upgrade.  C'mon Netgear!
I also tried using the standalone Genie program, but it has a slimed down list of functions, and Access control/MAC filtering is not one of them.
Any suggestions?

  • What's the firmware on the WNDR4300?

That interface looks odd. "Netgear Genie"? I don't see that.

So roll back to the previous firmware to confirm if this really is a firmware thing.

I wouldn't hold out much hope of getting Netgear to fix anything on the WNDR4300. It is a basic router that dates back to 2015, with technology from that era. There hasn't been a firmware update in four years.

Yes, it is an older model, but if it meets my needs I see no reason to shell another one, two or three hundred bucks for a new one.  I don't have any wifi6 devices yet, and the coverage is good, so I am good with the modem, I'm just pissed off that Netgear BROKE the interface with their firmware update.  Sounds like I am out of luck.  The router has the latest firmware(1.0.2.104), and I don't have the older version file.  Within the app (or web interface) there is no option to roll back a firmware update.  Luckily I was able to remove the MAC filtering through the desktop app, so now I can use it without that feature.  It's not like it adds much security anyway.

      Thank you for your answer.
