Can't connect to email on Mac

Recently, my router had updated firmware.  After updating it, my Mac has had problems connecting to email (both through Mail and via a browser) or to cloud apps, such as OneDrive.  I received error messages about Open DNS filtering blocking the sites, so I worked with both Open DNS support and Apple support and both of them confirmed that the issue was not with the Apple device, nor with OpenDNS, but that it points to the router.  How can I get my router to work with my Mac to connect to necessary applications?

I also have other devices connected to the same router (Windows, Android and iOS) and none of them has the same issue.

Please make sure that a factory reset is done after the firmware update and check if the issue will persist.
