Can't see devices connected to 2.4 GHz WiFi

I've recently purchased and configured a Netgear R6220-100NAS with both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi signals available less than a month ago and updated to the latest firmware when I ran my initial setup (though I'm not sure what version it is). I have 1 PC wired to my router and all other devices (including my printer) are connecting wirelessly.

Since installing this new router I noticed that I am unable to print on my Canon PIXMA MX892. I haven't been able to troubleshoot this issue as much as I would like to, but so far I've been able to determine that the printer is only able to connect to my 2.4 GHz network, and I cannot ping it from my PC (ping response on the IP comes back as "unreachable" as opposed to the typical "Ping request could not find host" error).

I tried pinging my smart phone when it was connected to the 5 GHz WiFi band and had no issues. When I switched my smart phone over to the 2.4 GHz band and pinged its IP again I got the same "unreachable" message.

Any tips on how I can further troubleshoot this issue and restore my print-capabilities?

  • Problem solved. I did a factory reset on the router (and manual reconfiguration) and I can now successfully print and ping devices on both WiFi networks. Looking at the configuration settings I backed up prior to the reset, it looks like wireless isolation was turned on for the 2.4 GHz WiFi network. It was set to "1" in the .cfg file.

That was my suspicion from the start, but I couldn't find the setting in the router setup options.
