Your workaround is fine, but I think you are a bit confused.
You can map a network share (\\readyshare\drive_T) to a drive letter in Windows if you want. The drive letter you use is managed by Windows, not the router. It has nothing to do with disk management, because the drives aren't connected to your PC.

Two things - I meant drive letter not number
My router is a R6400.
I looked at Windows Disk Management/actions but neither the T drive or the old Z drive is listed. And there are no change a drive letter actions listed.
Right now I have a workaround - Went to Network/readyshare/drive_T and made a desktop short cut to it. That lets me access the readyshare T Drive. It's less clicks than opening "This PC" anyway.
