connect old WNDR3400 router to new R7000P NightHawk
I upgraded my WNDR3400 Router to a new R7000P NightHawk Router to be able to stream video better. My problem is that now my older HP 6980 printer cant see the new router because as I have checked is...
finally got printer connected. Had to connect via ethernet, print a report page to get a IP address, open a browser and connect to that ip, then setup the wireless SSID and paraphrase, then disconnect the ethernet & print another report, getting a new IP, then set up that TCP/IP port for the printer.

Huh? What, exactly, do you think that the problem is? Do you really
think that your "new R7000P" is somehow incompatible with your old
wireless printer? Have you configured the 2.4GHz radio in the R7000P?
What, exactly, did you do? What, exactly, happened when you did it?
What you think it all means is of much less interest.
I disconnected my old WNDR3400 and connected my new R7000P. I have 2 printers connected wirelessly. my newest Epson XP830 Connected to new router with no porblem. When connecting my older HP 6980 my computer can't see the printer. I have tried connecting a usb to connect wirelessly as well as connected via usb and then changing to wifi but it never connects. There is no lcd pannel on this printer it is a older deskjet printer only. The blue wifi light is on but nothing connects

Knowing nothing, I assume that this thing came with some HP software
to let you configure the wireless stuff while connected by USB.

Thanks for the report. Sure. If the thing has a web server, then
all you should need to do is find it. (What could go wrong?)

Bear in mind that if you expect the printer's wireless interface
always to have the same IP address, then you'll probably want to reserve
an address for it on the router.
If you don't already have the User Manual for your router, then visit
http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look for
Documentation. Get the User Manual. Look for "Address Reservation".
It's that, or else configure the printer's interface with a static IP
address, but in that case, you'd want its address to be outside the
router's DHCP pool (LAN Setup > Starting IP Address, Ending IP Address).
Assigning a static address from the DHCP pool risks the router's DHCP
server handing out that address while the printer's powered off, and
then having a conflict when it's powered on.
