Firewall settings

How do I adjust my firewall settings to medium?

  • Jimkat40 Thank you for clarification.

Perhaps the customer support is talking about the wireless security or the encryption that is configured on the router.

To view the settings, see this article.

There's no firewall setting on the router that will prevent your devices to connect to the router.

The firewall on the router prevent hackers or people from outside to penetrate your home network.

    Hi Jimkat40

    Welcome to the community!

Kindly describe further on what you want to achieve.
Is this firewall on the computer or on your NETGEAR device?

What's the exact model number and version of your NETGEAR router?

Let us know more details so that we may answer your question accordingly.

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry about the lack of information.

      1. I have a Netgear Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router; MODEL WNDR4300

      2. firewall for the Netgear device

All this information probably doesn't matter at this point. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to know how to reset the firewall settings on my router.

If you want to tell me that would be good. If you can't that's ok too.

My wifi was not connecting in my home. My wife was able to. We have the same cell phones.

I was able to connect at other wifi point outside the home.

I have an Ooma Telo which started malfuntioning. So, I disconnected that and suddenly the wifi started working on my phone.

FYI: what led me to post the original message was that Ooma Customer Support told me that my firewall setting was to high on my Netgear router

and that I should contact the manufacturer to set it to medium. I was not able to find anything to fix that.

Thay led me to post this message. In the end ALL is working fine AT THIS POINT.

      Thanks.
