I needed to reinstall my OpenVPN client (after BitDefender's VPN, which I don't use, updated and nuked my OpenVPN client presumably due to shared dependencies), and it took me a while to figure out that the latest versions linked on on the https://openvpn.net/community-downloads/ linked to in the router advanced settings GUI are no longer compatible with the R6400v2 AC1750 router. Something about TLS levels? I'm wondering if Netgear is going to send out a firmware update to restore compatibility to the most recent version of OpenVPN client (2.6.11)? Or at the very least the R6400v2 firmware should be changed to indicate in the VPN instruction not to use the most recent version. It concerns me that the VPN is not at the most recent level--I hope this is not a security issue...R6220 Unable to locate Network security code
I am trying to add another device to my network and it is asking for the network security code (not the network password0. I entered what I had recorded as the security code and it's not working. I would like to locate the network security code I used to set up my laptop but need assistance. Can anyone give me instructions?NetGear R6400v2
I'm sure I was just scammed by a company who sold me lifetime coverage on my router. The company email came back as jyotiwebenterprise@gmail.com. I know I won't get the money back, but how can I change my login and password into my router, so they can no longer log in? They actually did fix the problem.NetGear Router experiencing DOS Attacks and keeps dropping WiFi
I have an old Netgear router, WNR1000v2. I've updated its firmware to V1.1.2.54, which according to it is the latest update. For a few months now, I've been experiencing my internet connections dropping significantly. I've found myself having to constantly reboot the router to fix this issue, but it keeps happening anyway. I've looked into the router and found an unusual number of strange things: In Attached Devices, I sometimes see 1 or 2 <unknown> devices. I know they're not my phone or TV as those show up separately and labeled with the names I gave them, and I have nothing else that could be accessing them. These unknown devices have no name and just show up randomly. My Logs in the router have shown a number of DOS attacks happening from different IP addresses: before anyone says these are "false reports", I've looked at the Whois information on some of these IPs already and found that a lot of of them have been reported elsewhere as malicious and not from places such as Microsoft. I don't recognize any of them and have no idea if they're trying to access my network or DOS me (log from today under the spoiler): I'm not sure whether these are the cause of my internet dropping or not. I've been thinking of contacting my internet provider and seeing if there's anything that could be done such as changing my IP address, drop them for a different provider, or get an entirely new router (of which, I'm not sure what would be a better replacement.) Some help to clarify and resolve these issues would be very much appreciated.R6230 attached devices confusion
There are a few things that I am confused about. In my R6230 web interface, I went into the attached devices list. First... I blocked a device, and have even restarted the router since then. The device shows as blocked, but it is not in the list of devices that are blocked and no longer connected. Second... There is a single mac address with 2 different lan ip addresses. Third... The 2 aforementioned devices show as having the same ip address, one wired, one wireless. What can be done to update all this information? Why is the blocked device still not in the list of devices which are blocked and no longer connected? Why does 1 mac address have multiple ip addresses and what can be done to remedy it?How to Find Network Security key
This is a model Nighthawk AC1900 Model R6900P I just bought a new Win 10 computer. I can not set it up because it keeps asking for Network Security Key. I have no idea what this is or how to find it. Everything I have written down does not work. What is this key and how do I find it?SolvedRefurbished Router Locked
Hey there, I purchased a refurbished R6080 a couple months ago from Amazon, but it seems to still be password protected by the previous user. My free technical support has expired, and I'm not sure how I can get access to configure settings without logging in. Obviously I don't know the answers to the security questions, and am unable to register the product to my Netgear account because it is still tied to the previous owner. I've already tried resetting it, but that didn't seem to remove any of the previous owner's security. Any suggestions?
