Firmware issue on model R6080

Is anyone else having issues with the last firmware update for the model R6080? It was corrupt and had rendered my router useless. Power cycle does nothing and will not factory reset. Green power light blinks once every 2 seconds. Netgear refuses to provide any support at all since I will not fork out over $90 minimum for it. Since most of us are on our own, can anyone help before I buy a different brand?

You can try recovering it with tftp or nmrpflash.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
    https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
    https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10

and here's a video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done.

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash

For an answer to that question, try here:

    Search - NETGEAR Communities – Firmware R6080

The answer seems to be "no".

What told you that? Corrupt firmware is unlikely. More likely is a bad update that has broken your installed firmware.

The difference is important in how you move on from here.  Trying to use something like TFTP to mend it would be a bad idea if you really do have corrupt firmware that you are trying to install.

How did you try to install the update? If it was an automated process, then there could have been some sort of transfer error. That is why experienced users prefer a manual update:

One reason for this is that you have to download the firmware. That comes in a zip file. If the firmware is corrupt, then the unzip process should warn you.

What happens when you try to reset? "Will not reset" offers no clues.

    You could try this;

    • Press reset for 30 seconds
    • Keep pressing reset while removing power
    • Keep pressing reset for another 30 seconds while apply power

It isn't advised on newer routers, but your bottom of the range device isn't likely to succumb to this move.
