Gs608 ethernet switch crashes internet

When plugging in and turning on the Ethernet switch it stops my router and internet services working, what could be the issue

    A few more details might help. 

    What modem do you have? 

    What router do you have? 

    how is it connected? Are you going Modem---switch---router

    or how exactly is it connected in your setup?

      I’m going telstra modem then router(huawei is the brand) then the netgear switch via cat 5e cable

        The switch is only connected to the router? 

        Or how is it wired up?

       What, exactly, is connected to what, exactly?  (Hint: If a device has
    different types of Ethernet ports, then "connected to device" is not
    enough detail.)

     

       Are you connecting only a switch port to a LAN port on the router, or
    are other devices connected to the switch, or what?  Is the switch
    causing the problem, or is some device which is connected to the switch
    causing the problem, or what?
