How to change WAN to 1000M from 100M?

How to change WAN port to 1000M from 100M?

 

I have directly connected the LAN cable to desktop and I am getting 175 Mbps speed in the Speedtest. But if I connect the LAN wire to router and desktop to router I am getting only 94 - 95 Mbps.

 

Inside the router administration page I am seeing WAN is 100M/full. I don't see any options to change this to 1000M or something. There are options to set Wi-Fi to 240 Mbps and 1300 Mbps for 2.4 and 5 GHz bands but not for WAN port.

 

How to resolve this issue?

 

Model: R6400v2.

Fireware: v1.0.4.78_10.0.55

    This seems to be a hardware issue in the router. I've talked with Netgear customer care over phone and they've arranged for a replacement since the router is in warranty period. Thank you everyone.

      Hi Ryanbenson,

       

      As I said, when I connect the cable directly to my desktop, I am getting the fully speed (175 Mbps). I am getting 94 - 95 Mbps only when I am connecting thru the router. I am sure that there is no issues in the cable. The cable is a four-pair cable only.

           What are the devices at each end of this cable?  Are they both
        gigabit-capable?

           Which "the Speedtest"?

           There are no such options; the router negotiates its port speed with
        the device at the other end of the cable.

           Prove it.  As a test, if you connect one of your cables between two
        LAN Ethernet ports on the R6400v2, then what do the corresponding
        port-status LED indicators indicate?

         

           Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
        for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Look for the LED
        descriptions.


           According to your picture, the LAN4 port also runs at 100Mb/s.  What
        happens if you test that cable?

           All eight wires are needed for a gigabit connection.  Only (the
        right) four are needed for lower speeds.
