I could not access 192.16.1.1 or routerlogin.net from Edge or Chrome

I had the same issue.  I could not access 192.16.1.1 or routerlogin.net from Edge or Chrome.  I downloaded Firefox, and that was able to connect.

Try the more appropriate 192.168.1.1 LAN IP address instead.

Tell us more about the unspecified WiFi Router (we assume Netgear), and what model, .... FMI https://kb.netgear.com/10727/How-can-I-find-my-NETGEAR-device-s-model-number

Either way, routerlogin.net /.com can only work if connected to that very same LAN or Wireless anyway, not having configured and with an active a VPN on the computer.
