IPTV not working properly behind N600 Router (WNDR3400v2)
Hi,
I have an N600 WiFi router (WNDR3400v2), behind which my newly accuired IPTV wont work properly;
Trying the following works:
DSL-Modem -> IPTV-Box -> TV works fluently
The following hangs after a few seconds (works another few seconds after changing channel):
DSL-Router -> WNDR3400v2 Router -> IPTV-Box -> TV, transmission hangs after ~5 seconds
My google-foo tells me this has to do with something called "multicasting", for which there is a solution for the 3rd version of the WNDR3400, however, that solution does not seem applicable for version 2, which i have...
... so, is IPTV (Germany/Telekom) possible for the WNDR3400v2?
if so, how do i do?
best wishes,
Mattias
Yes, IPTV generally uses IP Multicast. Unfortunately, it seems that Netgear isn't very good about supporting it, though they have been making progress. About the only thing you can try is to enable IGMP Proxy under ADVANCED > Setup > WAN Setup.
If you are adventurous, you can install DD-WRT, which is 3rd party firmware. DD-WRT has pretty good support for IP Multicast.

Hi,
thanks, i actually just got it working (before reading your answer).
I did a few things which i thought might work, but the last thing was activating the IGMP Proxy (or, uncrossing the "deactivate..."-check box), after that it did work!
(what i had changed before was to set highest priority for the LAN port to which my IPTV box is connected as well as activating QoS for internet and raising the highest transfer rate optioned there.. - have no idea if this did anything to help the situation though)
BTW, DD-WRT has the version 2 of the router marked as "Work in Progress", so i didnt dare try it out...
best wishes
