It's been a long time for a FIRMWARE Update for the R6300v2

So as the subject line says...Last Firmware update for the R6300v2 router was spring of last year...

(I own three of them)..

As far as I know this is still a supported router...

In the interim we have the KR00K wifi vulnerability...

Will this be patched soon?

Just loaded R6300v2-V1.0.4.38_10.0.93_BETA Firmware on all three of my

R6300v2 routers. All three upgrades went without a hitch. Nice to get

    security updates. Thankyou NETGEAR.

  • The R6300v2 was released 5 years ago. v1 was 8 years ago.

At a certain point, router makers have to focus on their current devices as they couldn't afford to staff enough people to be constantly making firmware upgrades for all their devices they've ever manufactured. similar to how phone makers only doing updates for their devices for a set period of time.

If you're concerned enough about security, I'd recommend upgrading to a newer router or looking into 3rd party firmware for it.

Yes...I am concerned about the KR00K Wifi Vulnerability.

It's my understanding this router is still supported.

Third party options are not good for this router (WiFi is not reliable and connects at lower speeds)...

I hope that Netgear will put out a patch for the KR00K wifi vulnerability for this router.

Like I said I own three of them.

All I can say is good luck. I hope for your sake they do but I wouldn't hold my breath.

    Hi motox22a,

    Good day!

As per engineering, the R63000v2 is EOL so we will not be releasing a patch. However, you may enable ACL control to avoid connection attempts from unknown devices.
