NETGEAR AC1600 R6250 wired connection drops often

Hello,

My R6250 – Smart WiFi Router (AC1600) is directly connected to my Asus laptop (ethernet wired connection & cable).

My laptopt is Asus N550 JV with Win 8.1 64bits.

My internet connection drops very often, sometimes only a few seconds, but it happens often and it's annoying. Could someone help? Wifi is usually disabled, I do not use wireless connection. I use only a simple wired connection.

Routeur Firmware Version (the latest):
V1.0.4.2_10.1.10

Thank you!

  • Hi DexterJB! and thank you very much for your kind help.

I don't know how exactly but I finally got rid of those annoying disconnections... I reseted and rebooted the router several time, it may have solved the problem. Not sure yet!

    What I did:

    1. Have you tried bypassing the router and connecting straight to the modem to check if the connection from your ISP is stable?

No but others computers connected to the same network and router through power-line communication adapter do not disconnect.

    2. Have you tried using another Ethernet cable?

I've changed, yes, but it does not seem to be the cause.

    3. Have you tried using another port on the router?

Yes, that did not resolve the issue.

    4. Does the issue persist on your other devices (other wired/wireless devices)?

No, wireless connection is fine on others devices.

    5. Have you tried resetting the router?

    Yes!
