Netgear R6400 router and unmanaged 8port TP Link switch

My old setup worked until my router died. Setup was:

Internet---> Asus router ----->computer1

                                       ----->computer2

                                       ----->TP-Link unmanaged switch(TP-SG1008D) -----> Smart TV

                                                                                                                    ------> Printer

                                                                                                                    ------>Raspberry Pi

I replaced the The Asus router with Netgear R6400 and everything works fine except everything behind the switch. This was all working before Asus router died. I believed this all should be plug and play or is there something i need to do with Netgear router?

  • It should be plug and play.

    Is anything behind the switch able to get an IP address from the R6400?  Is the R6400 in router or AP mode?

    Try testing the switch.  Connect computer1<----TP-Link switch---->computer2.  Either configure static or, if both machines are running Windows, wait for them to self-assign IP addresses.  Then try to ping computer2 from computer1.  If it doesn't work, then the switch is bad.

      Connecting a computer behind the switch worked and now everything behind switch is working.
