Netgear Router AP mode setup (Router WNDR3800) (AP Mode Router R6050)
I have been unable to get the R6050 to work in AP Mode with the WNDR3800
My questions
1. Do I have to change any setting in the R3080? Only changed WIFI channels to be different than AP device WiFi
2. I changed the R6050 to AP Mode.
I'm allowing only the Router R3800 to do DHCP not the AP device R6050
I have an ethernet cable from the AP device WAN port to the Router's lan switch
I have an ethernet cable from an AP device lan port to a computer
I can see that the AP device is on the network by IP scan or Router attached devices
I have set the AP device WIFI to fixed channels different than Routers
3. How do I know if the WiFi Access Point is working? Can I see it in attached devices or in logs?
4. Can the Router be attached to the AP device via an unmanaged switch or does it have to have a hardwired dedicated connection - Router Lan Port to AP Device WAN port?
Is there anything else I need to do to get these working together?
Hi wbramsey,
1. No additional configuration is needed on your main router.
2. It is good that the AP shows as an attached device to the main router.
3. You can set a different SSID on the AP and connect a wireless device to it and check if it goes online. A wired device will also do.
4. A direct connection from the router to the AP is better rather than having a switch in between.
5. You can check the link below.
