Not Configured Correctly

I downloaded and installed the upgrade to my N300 WNR2000v3 wireless router.  When I checked the security of my network provider and router with my Anti-virus program, red flags popped up saying that the router was configured incorrectly (Hey, wait....the Genie for Windows did the work....?), and that I was vulnerable to hackers and cyber attacks.  What the * ???

Any thoughts, clues, or advice?

I'm not sure anything can be done to help without more information.

  • That's not much to go on. Did your anti-virus program provide any more details about the supposed vulnerabilities?

I actually found the link that Netgear had posted concerning this security problem.  It is a patch to the firmwear. I followed their directions to the letter. After I had uploaded the patch, and done a reboot of the router, I ran another network security scan.  Whala! The patch did its job, and my system is secure.  Thank you for your time,
