Old Router as Readyshare only??
Sup!? I have an older 10/100 WNDR3400v3 N600 router (firmware V1.0.1.42_1.0.68) that I had been using until upgrading to fiber & the eero pro 6 mesh system. One of the downsides to my new router is only 2 cat ports & the lack of a USB port for my Readyshare hard drive. My plan (if possible) is to disable my old Netgears internet so it functions as a switch only, connect my external drive back to the Netgears USB, then run a cat cable from the Netgear to another switch that's connected to my new router so I can keep my drive going. I haven't had any success getting the network to see it with different configurations nor playing with router settings. Wondering if anyone had suggestions or experience doing anything similar. I was thinking about trying a crossover cable next?

Does the router have a AP mode setting? I would review the user manual for this information.
If not, then set a new IP address for the routers IP, to what is used no the new main host router, disable DHCP services on the old router then connect the router to the new main host router using one of the old routers LAN ports.

You may find that ReadSHARE is one of the many features that don't work in AP mode.

It isn't listed there, but be prepared for a disappointment.
Unfortunately, the WNDR3400v3 is so old, based on something from 2010, that Netgear isn't likely to update its documentation.
If it does work, it would be great to have some feedback.
