R6020 - Unable to change security method to WPA/WPA2-Personal

I was hoping to get some help here.

Suddenly, I got a notification from my iPhone that my 2.4GHz wifi portal has 'WEAK SECURITY'. I tried changing this via the Nighthawk app but it doesn't let me update the settings.

The message from my iPhone reads:

Weak Security

WPA/WPA2 (TKIP) is not considered secure.

If this is your Wi0Fi network, configure the router to use WPA2 (AES) or WPA3 security type.

I'm no tech-savvy so I wasn't sure if I needed to replace my router due to it being outdated.

Thanks for all comments!!!

Does this prevent you from connecting the the Network? Or is it just an annoying message?

Manuals are always a good place to start.

    Visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

Check the section in the manual

    Configure WPA/WPA2 Enterprise WiFi Security

If that doesn't work, while Apple likes to run the word, no one has yet given it the keys to the planet. Your iPhone causes this problem, so you really need to ask Apple what you are supposed to do to carry on using your expensive kit.

Your R6020, from around 2017, is pretty well Netgear's most basic router. It is so slow that if you have an Internet connection that is faster than 100 Mbps you are wasting your money. That's the top speed for this model.

According to Netgear's manual for this device, not always the most reliable source of information, the LAN and WAN ports support only 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX. That makes it slower than many newer internet services and most modern network hardware.
