R6120 | AC1200 Issue: Can connect to 2.4 ghz and 5ghz channel but receive no internet
About a week ago my internet on both 2.4ghz and 5 ghz channels started to get spotty and then eventually stopped working. I could connect to the channels but could not access the internet. The strange thing about the ordeal is that my wifi extender can connect to my router and my wifi extender allows me to access the internet. It's not great but it's a solution for now. Can anyone help me get my 2.4 and 5g channels working again?
My troubleshooting steps:
1. My isp did diagnostics and my modem is receiving normal internet fine
2. I update my firmware via nighthawk app to latest V1.0.0.82, reboot, and change the channel in my router admin settings
3. Remove any access to unused devices on my network
4. Check logs.... Find that my internet was receiving intermittent dos/ack scans.
5. Report to ISP and NETGEAR of dos attacks. Seems that is not the issue...I guess
6. Attempt rollback to V1.0.0.82 via the netgear router admin portal
7. Factory Reset modem and Netgear router

How do I manually upgrade firmware to my NETGEAR router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

Thanks for responding.
The modem is a netgear CM500.
Correct! I manually rolled back my firmware to an older version V1.0.0.80. This did not fix the issue either.

What is that modem?
4. Check logs.... Find that my internet was receiving intermittent dos/ack scans.Netgear's firmware is great at creating false reports of DoS attacks. Many of them are no such thing.
Search - NETGEAR Communities – DoS attacks
Use Whois.net to see who is behind some of them and you may find that they are from places like Facebook, Google, even your ISP.
Here is a useful tool for that task:
IPNetInfo: Retrieve IP Address Information from WHOIS servers
If these events are slowing down your router, that may be because it is using up processor time as it writes the events to your logs. Anything that uses processor power – event logging, QoS management, traffic metering – may cause slowdowns. Disable logging of DoS attacks and see if that reduces the problem. This does not prevent the router from protecting you from the outside world.
