R6220 - Can't set VPI/VCI

I would like to use my r6220 router and return my isp provided router. I have the PoE login and password from my provider as well as the ADSL settings. The ADSL setting is not in the genie set up, I can not get the router to connect. I have tried updating the firmware, but it says I'm up to date. I have version 1.1.0.34_1.0.1 

I have looked in advance set up and VPI/VCI settings are not available. I'm not sure if this is what is keeping me from connecting or if its something else.

I'd appreciate any advice I can get at this point.

       What, exactly, are you trying to replace?

       Because you're trying to replace some (unspecified) DSL modem+router
    with a (modem-less) router?  I think that I can explain that.

     

       Where did you intend to stick your phone/DSL wire?  (Hint: sticking
    it into an Ethernet hole, where it doesn't really fit, would be a bad
    idea, for multiple reasons.)
