R6400 - Custom DNS Settings Change When Parental Controls are On

I changed the DNS settings to be set to google DNS servers. But when I turn the parental controls back on, the DNS settings automatically revert back to the previous settings. How do I prevent this from happening?

  • Hi Pugg,

The DNS values will change when you enable Parental Controls. Disabling Parental Controls should set those values back to how you had it before. You can also find it in the router UI via Advanced > Setup > Internet Setup > Domain Name Server (DNS) Address.

  • You can't.  Parental controls use DNS servers hosted by OpenDNS to provide domain filtering.

The DNS settings changed and seem to be imbedded, as I can not find were to change them back, as the DNS settings finds no internet, when using Parental Controls.   I had to got to Ethernet to get back on line.  How do I remove the DNS settings, where are they hiding.

I use OpenDNS anyway, but the Parental controls fouled the settings up.
