R6400 - Wireless quit working suddenly

We have an R6400/AC1750 Smart WiFi Router. It has been working fine since January when we bought it. We use it for laptops, iPads and phones, as well as streaming Sling TV through a Roku device. This morning, we moved the end table with the modem and the router on it to change out a couch. Now the wireless part of the device is not working.

When I log in to the routerlogin interface, the GUI says that the wireless is off. I have not managed to do anything that will turn it on. I have turned it off and then back on. I have pushed the reset button. I have tried several times to put a check mark in the 'Enable Wireless Router Radio' box for both the 2.4g and the 5g slots. When I do this, then click 'apply' the interface clocks for a while and then resets with no check mark in either box and the wireless stays off.

Besides that, none of the regular 'wired' functions of the device seem to be adversely affected. We still are able to access the internet through the one desktop that has a wired connection with the router.

Unrelated maybe, but I see that there is a A router firmware upgrade available, but when I click on this, even though I see the question 'New firmware is found. Do you want to update the firmware?' there is no where to click to start the process. Weird.

Anyway, I hope someone can help, 'cause I'm not looking forward to buying a new router, and if I do I will certainly hesitate to buy Netgear.

  • Boy do I feel stupid. Problem solved. Just noticed someone else's post that had a similar problem and saw how there is a button that can turn off (and on) the WiFi. Had tried this button, but didn't know it had to be held in for a few seconds. Hope someone else gets help from this post and my stupidity. Thanks.
