Rangemax Wireless-N 150 Router wants static IP address during setup
I just dug out this router that I bought in 2010. I previously had dsl and did not need it, but am trying to setup comcast internet and use this router. I have tried to setup by using the CD and setup wizard or by logging into the router page on a browser and doing the setup there. In both instances it says that my internet uses static ip adressing and to enter the adresses. I contacted Comcast to confirm that this is not correct, they use dynamic IP hat shoudl be automatically detected. I can connect to the wireless network, but not the internet. I am able to connect to the internet if I just plug a cable from the modem into my computer. Also, I only have one network cable that I am plugging in between the router and modem. I do not have a cable to plug my computer into the router when I am trying to setup. I am wirelesly connected, so I was hoping that is enough, but the setup documents do show having a wired connection. Would that make a difference?
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks! I actually updated the firmware and it seemed like that did the trick.

No, it shouldn't make a difference. You can use Wi-Fi to configure the router.
Go to Basic Settings and make sure the following are set:
- Does your Internet connection require a login? No
- Internet IP address: Get Dynamically from ISP
If you make any changes, be sure to click Apply to save them. Then reboot the router for good measure while it is plugged into the modem. Log back in and confirm that the router has obtained an IP address from Comcast.

Thanks for the reply. I do have both of those settings set correctly, and have power cycled the router, but it still comes up as detecting a static IP.
connection.
