RAX70 Problem with AP Mode (AX6600 Router)

After putting the router in AP mode with either a fixed IP address or dynamic IP address, the router can not be located at the specified address or DHCP range after reboot.

I've wasted many hours trying many options without success.

If I log into the router's wifi radio, the client doesn't receive an IP address from the AP and therefore fails to connect.

Do I just have a faulty router?

Thanks all in adavance.

  • What router are you connecting it to?

Try factory resetting it. PUsh and hold reset for 7-15 seconds while powered on.

After you reset and reinstall it, when you put it in access point mode, leave the IP address info alone and let your primary router assign the IP address.

Then log into the primary router and look at its attached devices page (or equivelent). It should have the router listed and its ip address. You should be able to log in with that.

That's right. In AP mode clients get their IP addresses from the router. That's the point if AP mode.

In addution to tghe advice from plemans, I suggest getting the desktop genie for your operating system:

    genie | Product | Support | NETGEAR

This has an excellent network map that wipes the floor with the router graphical user interface (GUI) and can even provide a  lockable link that will take you to the IP address, and GUI, of the AP device.
