RB50 as AP - No Internet connection despite all devices connecting fine

Hello,

I have a RB50 set as wireless AP and connected to an internet modem. All my devices connected via the AP can access the Internet fine.

However, the RB50 itself can't and displays an Error that it is not connected to the Internet.

The LAN post shows the connection is fine

I have tried to:

- Set the RB50 as router instead of AP ==> Same result

- Reset the RB50 entirely ==> Same result

- I have disconnected all satellites to only leave the main RB50 ==> Same result

- Went through the internet setup of the RB50 page ==> Same result

This used to work fine with the exact same setup and stopped working just a few days back

Routeur Firmware: V2.7.3.22

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Many router issues are generic, so it doesn't matter much where you ask for help. However, in this case we are talking about an Orbi device, the RB50. (It is really the RBK50.) The title of this section clearly says it is for General WiFi Routers (Non-Nighthawk and Non-Orbi).

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

    Orbi - NETGEAR Communities

There are some big differences between the AP configuration of Orbi and other routers.

If you do post in the right section, people will want to know what this internet modem is.

    Then there is this bit:

However, the RB50 itself can't and displays an Error that it is not connected to the Internet.

    What displays that error?

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

  • I know it sounds like a stupid question but I've seen it several times.

When the Orbi is in access point mode, do you have it connected to the primary router using the orbi's wan port?
I've frequently seen people using a lan port because they don't think they should use the wan port.
