Replacement for R6400
So I have determined my usb 3 port on my router is shot, usb 2 works fine. I have factory reset the router, tried another cable, tried another storage device, even installed ddwrt, none of them will detect anything on the usb 3 port. At this point the device needs to be replaced, but while trying to get support I see that because I'm outside the 90 day window I need to call support and pay a fee, what kind of absolute BS is this, my device is in warranty, it is a hardware problem and I don't need tech support.
Does anyone know how to get around this money grubbing garbage and just get a replacement?
Called up netgear, they refused to honor the warranty because the hard drives I use aren't on their compatibility list, even though they worked fine for the past 10 months and works fine on the usb 2 port. Company is just garbage and won't be buying from them again in the future.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. It may be working, but the functionality is hopeless. Then again, you have tried all the usual tricks.
USB3 issues are a common theme here. It works for some USB drives, but not for many others.
Indeed, in general USB and Readyshare cause problems.
The bottom line is that you could end up in the same boat if you simply replaced the router.
You do not have to pay to invoke the warranty process. If you have a MyNetgear account (that's not the same as the account for this forum) and have registered the device you can start there. But as I say replacing it may make no difference. Readyshare is a pretty hopeless technology.
- darkwolfAspirantThe readyshare function has worked fine until recently, so not sure about it being garbage. But it's not a matter of windows not detecting it, it's a matter of any firmware I use won't see it in the firmware settings. But pull it out and put it in the usb 2 port and it instantly works. Also I tried the website, and when I clicked the 'replace defective product" button I was pushed to a screen telling me I had to buy support.
