Do NETGEAR router configuration pages include a setting for using HTTPS to connect to the router for configuration? (Haven't found it ...)

Not with most devices, if you are referring to local access.

Well done, michaelkenward! I obviously didn't pick the right searches to do.
Your link demonstrates that people better schooled than I are already thinking the issue I was. I kinda hope we can get to HTTPS for local admin. It's certainly less important than for external or remote admin.
By the same token, I'm not at all sure it's a "just slap it in the next release of the firmware" issue. There's enough complexity there, I can see that it could be much more expensive to do than most consumers could benefit from or understand.
Maybe in an upcoming generation of routers ...

My R7000P has it. I haven't used it for a few weeks, but I think the R7800 does too.
