Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the NETGEAR Genie?
What's the Genie version you're using?
You may also want to try is to uninstall the Genie completely and see if you'll get connected.
By the way, what's the operating system of the computer that has the Genie?
Install it in a different computer too for isolation.

Thanks for your suggestion; I upgraded Genie and the software driver for my network adapter and it seems to be working great.

tdrmulli Give us more details. Do you get any error message when connecting? Do you have any wireless password set on your router?
Did you try disabling it and see if it will get connected?
What devices do you have? What are these wireless devices? What operating systems?
Does it connect to a different wireless router or hotspot?
