The last few times that my router lost power, it lost wireless connectivity to the Internet. The admin console shows no errors, and my wired devices can connect. Wireless devices connect to the network, but no Internet. Tried bounding multiple times and tried access mode. Any suggestions?SolvedJNR3000: Wired speed fine, Wireless slow download & fast upload
Hi all, Since a couple of weeks I've noticed my Netgear JNR3000, the second router in the household, puts through extremely low download speed but decent upload speed when connected through WiFi; Speedtest gives 0.6 Mbps download, 18 Mbps upload, whereas the wired Speedtest shows 30Mbps/29Mbps as it should. I found these results when there was no other device connected to any of my routers. Also tested with multiple smartphones and laptops. The wireless results are the same everywhere throughout the house, even next to the JNR3000. The router uses the 'latest' firmware (V1.1.0.29_1.0.1), DHCP is activated (192.168.3.x where Router1 operates on 192.168.2.x) and the WiFi security settings are set to WPA2-PSK [AES]. Channel is currently set to Auto and Mode is set to 300Mbps. See the extremely detailed schematic overview below. I've already tried the basic stuff after browsing this forum; a hard reset (30-30-30), changing channels (most importantly a different channel than Router1 operates on, but evading other channels used in the area as well), disabling 20/40Mhz coexistence, Disabling QoS, disabling WMM, Fragmentation Length and CTS/RTS threshold set to 2342, switching Preamble mode to Short (from Long), RIP Direction set to Both and RIP Version set to 1 (although I really don't know what the optimal RIP settings are in this setup), disabling Guest mode (which is activated from time to time), making sure no microwaves etc. are near. Is there any chance of getting back to decent WiFi speeds (such as 20Mbps/20Mbps as it used to be) or is it time to replace my JNR3000? Are there hidden settings in Router1 (Arcadyan VGV7519 aka Experia Box v8) that forbid the JNR3000 from using maximum download speed when connected to WiFi? Thanks in advance, AlexSolvedWNDR3300v1 - Router not working
Our wireless connection went out, so I made sure everything was connected and restarted the router. This did not fix the connection. Then I check with our provider to see if our Internet connection was good and it was. I discovered that even when I plugged my computer directly into the router I could not get a connection. Is there a way to fix the router or do I need to get a new one?SolvedWNDR3400v3 N600 Wireless Dual Band Router password reset instructions don't work
I don't understand why when I ran antivirus software it alerted me I have a weak router username and password. I have set a new username and password and have clicked "apply." But when I follow the instructions which are copied>pasted, below, I get to step 2. and it only accepts the *old* username and password to log in as described in step 2. Then when I do step 4 and click on "Wireless," it opens up the page and displays the *new* updated SSID and Passphrases, NOT the *old* username and password I had to type in in step 2. Why do they not match? I want to update my "too weak" username and password but it does not appear to be saving it based on going through the provided steps, below. Even more confusing: Step 6 is not accurate because there is no field with that name. There is a field named "passphrase," but not a field named "Password (Network Key)." I have clicked the "apply" button but then when I log out and try to log back in again, once again it asks for a username and password but will only take the *old* one, and my antivirus scan repeats that the username and password are still too weak. Here are the steps NETGEAR offers me online for my model: Article ID: 23439 To change your WiFi password or network name (SSID): Launch an Internet browser and type http://www.routerlogin.net into the address bar. If you are having problems accessing routerlogin.net, visit Router login page cannot be displayed or is blank. Enter the router user name and password when prompted. The default user name is admin. The default password is password. Click OK. The BASIC Home page displays. Select Wireless. Enter your new user name in the Name (SSID) field. Enter your new password in the Password (Network Key) fields. Click the Apply button. Your changes are saved.SolvedWNDR4500v2: Wireless isolation doesn't work on guest network
Hi, I have used this Router now for about 9 months and have been very happy with its performance. We have a home business and students regularly visit our home. We have recently had requests for them to get on our WiFi (because cell reception is bad), and I wanted to use the "Guest Network" feature to accomplish this. Goals: --Guest network is for student needing to access the internet only. --Guest network will broadcast SSID and will be guarded with password, given to student at their request. --Multiple clients on guest network should not be able to see each other. Just client and the internet.....that's it. --Guests must be absolutely isolated from our regular WIRED network (plugged into the physical ports on the WNDR4500v2) and the regular WIRELESS network (via the WiFi on the WNDR4500v2). Assets on these internal networks (WIRED & WIRELESS) are lightly guarded and thus outside individuals must not be allowed to traverse these networks. CONFIGURATION: Router Model: WNDR4500v2 Firmware: V1.0.0.60_1.0.38 SETUP: -Regular Wifi "WIRELESS" is ON: "Enable Wireless Isolation" checkbox is OFF. -Guest WiFi "GUEST" is ON: "Enable Wireless Isolation" checkbox is ON. "Allow guest to access My Local Network" checkbox is OFF. -DHCP is ON -"Enable AP Mode" checkbox is OFF. Everything above seemed quite straightforward for easy configuration. However, it was a different story when I actually tested it. I used my iPad to get on the guest network. I used the application called "Fing" that does an IP address scan on the entire network. Once identifying an asset, you can then run a more detailed scan by attempting to access various services on various ports of the device. Immeidately, the guest network showed every device on my GUEST, WIRED, and WIRELESS networks (combination of fixed and DHCP addresses). Not good! I then ran a more detailed analysis of the devices found all standard open ports (smb shares, webserver, terminal services) cound indeed be accessed from the guest network. Is this a firmware bug? How do I deny guests access to everything but their connection to the internet? By the way, the "Help" on the router configuration screen appears to describe the checkbox functionality BACKWARDS of the description. (I tried it both ways, just in case, but to no avail.) Probably a previous version or person-who-did-interface didn't talk to person-who-did-help? "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network When unchecked, users connecting to this guest network can only access the Internet and cannot access any other devices in the same network or in other networks, including the main network and the wired network. In addition, all the clients in this guest network cannot access router's management GUI or any other services provided by the router (for example, ReadySHARE Storage, ReadySHARE Printer... if the router supports these functions). When checked, users connecting to this guest network can access not only the Internet but also all devices on all local networks, including the main network and the wired network." Hi, I have searched for this on the forum already and, while other people are experiencing random loss of WiFi, none of their symptoms mach what I'm getting. I have a Netgear N150 Wireles Router WNR1000 v3 and firmware is up-to-date (Firmware Version V1.0.2.68_60.0.93). Once or twice a day we notice there is no network available and when I look at the lights on the front of the router, the blue 'wireless' and the green 'Push 'N' Connect' lights are off. I press the wireless button on top of the box (it is mounted vertically) and, as expected, they both come back on again. The router is turning off WiFi on its own. The ethernet network part is running fine all the time (sometimes I'm using the computers plugged in to port 3 The DSL modem is plugged into the Router WAN port using an Ethernet cable, my main PC is plugged into LAN1, a Linux box is pluged in to LAN2, LAN3 is unused and my phone/hub is on LAN4, which as far as I can tell is completely typical. and I never notice any interruption or degradation to these ports, just the wireless turning itself off. It is scheduled to turn off between 0:00 and 06:00. Has anybody else experienced this? I have tried a reset but it has not made any difference. Is this a known problem? Thanks in advance for your help on this!SolvedN300 WNR2000v2 Wireless Router slow download speed
Hey, I have Time Warner Cable as my internet service provider. I used to pay for 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speeds. I used to get those speeds when connected to my Netgear router through wifi fine. Two days ago Time Warner Cable updated our internet to 200 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload speed. When connected from laptop to modem given by Time Warner, the speeds are fine. However, when connected to my Netgear router through wifi, I am now only getting around 30 Mbps download but the upload has gone up to around 20 Mbps. So basically Time Warner upgraded my internet but Netgear has dropped my download speed and raised my upload speed. Some of my router settings: Channel - Auto Mode - 300 Mbps Security is on AES option. My default router MTU was 1492. I tried changing that to numerous options such as 1400, 1440, 1460, ect. but speeds remained the same. I put it back to 1492. I have tried disabling WMM,changing DNS, as well as changing channels. No change in speeds. Please help with this. Thanks.Solved
