Unable to set up access list on R6300v2 after installing firmware update 1.0.4.20
After installing the new 1.0.4.20 firmware update on my R6300v2 wireless router I followed the instructions to reset all settings to factory default. After completing that step I re-entered all my previous router settings manually as per the instrucions in the readme file.
Everything worked just fine with changing my settings until I attempted to setup my Access List under the Advanced Wireless Setup section. As soon as I tried to add a new entry to the Access List, I received an error message in my browser indicating that the connection was reset. From that point forward, although I could still access the Internet and ping the router from a command window, my browser could no longer connect to the router. It simply gave a message that for an unknown reason it could not connect to the router. I had to cold boot the router and reboot my laptop before I could login back into the router. I tried this several time, disconnecting the router from power each time. But the results are always the same. If I try to add an entry to the Access List, the router apparently immediately resets the connection and I can no longer connect to the router via my browser. Exiting the browser and restarting it did not work either. It still could not connect to the router until I power cycled the router.
I am running Windows Pro 7 on my laptop with latest version of Firefox browser and connected to the router with an Ethernet cable.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Any ideas on what is going on and how to fix it?
Rolled my R6300v2 router back to v1.0.4.18 and everything, including the access list works properly.
It's a disappointment that NetGear would release firmware without properly testing it first. There was a time when NetGear meant quality. Guess those days are long gone.
Time to look at other brands.

So the short answer is to roll back to the previous firmware version. Good thing I have a backup of that older version file.

For a wider selection, visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your
model number, and look for Downloads. Under Firmware and Software
Downloads, look for View Previous Versions.
If an older firmware version works, then you might get the desired
effect by changing the configuration under the old version, saving the
settings, loading the new firmware, and then restoring the saved
settings. No bets, however. (Makes you proud that you chose Netgear,
doesn't it?)
