Update for wnr2000v5 does not extract for firmware 1.0.0.58
My model number is not recognized in the Model field in this form - wtf! It is WNR2000v5
I've just downloaded the update firmware WNR2000v5-V1.0.0.58.img and my iMac (MacOS Sierra 10.12) says "image not recognized". So, I can't install the firmware update. I've no way to contact Netgear because my free service period has ended. I shouldn't have to pay to tell them that the image file is no good. What should I do?

Read the instructions (in the "Release Notes") which come in the
firmware kit? Or see:

To those who suggested I read the accompanying file in the folder... thank you. As another feed stated, Apple, once upon a time did use .img for an image file - I've been around a long time - and since has change the image extension to .dmg. Anyway, now knowing it is not an "disk image" file, I followed the instructions and after finally realizing what the login info for www.routerlogin.net is (it's simpler than you'd think, especially if you never created your own login info for it - hint: you'll find it in the Netgear Genie app as the default login info under one of those buttons) I was able to proceed with no issues whatsoever. Thanks again for the sage advice. I'm now updated.

One addendum - make sure to quit the Netgear Genie app before going to www.routerlogin.net or else you will not be able to proceed.
