Use N600 in AP mode as NAS
I have a WNDR3400v3 (N600) that I'm no longer using. I was thinking of setting it up in AP mode and connecting a USB hard drive to it so I can access the drive over the network via ReadyShare.
When I had it as my main router, the ReadyShare function gave access to the attached USB drive from other computers in the house.
If I set it up as an AP point, will I be able to access the attached USB hard drive from other computers in the house? Or can that only be done if it's functioning as the main router?
OK - Thanks for the reply.
Got it all set up now as an access point only and my USB drive is accessible from any other computer or phone on my home network.

Access Point point? (See: http://antinode.info/complaints/aer.html )
You found "AP Mode" in the WNDR3400v3 User Manual?

wireless access point, it'll have some new/different LAN IP address, and
any "routerlogin" names might not work, so I'd expect you to need to use
its (new/different LAN) IP address to access the serverd storage.Something like an "Attached Devices" or "DHCP Clients" (or similar)
report from your (unspecified) main router should tell you that. And you'd probably want to reserve an address for the
WNDR3400v3-as-WAP on the (DHCP server on the) main router, so that
it won't go wandering around every time you restart some gizmo.- JohnCNAAspirant
