Just to clarify 

 

You start by saying your wifi doesn't work and finish with it works but isn't great. You have made clear you have no Lan connection so this helps. 

 

I will assume you have wifi but just not great wifi. If you do not have WIFI then technically you have no access to the internet or network from your location and you will need to get a service directly into your Dorm before buying any hardware. 

 

So assuming you do have WIFI, you can buy an extender EX6150 (you will need to know the password to connect to the network mind you but as you said it is terrible again I assume you have connected other devices no problem so know this) you can then have the Xbox Connect via a Lan port into the Extender. The extender will also give out a wireless signal.

Do note however if you are adding this device to a university wifi system, there is a high chance they may either Kick you off or email you asking you to remove it, so please do check with the initial Wireless provider and check that this is ok.

    thanks for answering, what i meant was that a login wifi doenst works on xbox, also i can only connect two devices thats why i wanted a router, my main question is that i would be able to set up the router with a logn in wifi?

      Hello Again Gian2097

       

      Yes you can purchase a router, and have a guest network that people can access via a password. Similar to Hotel Wifi where people can Login. 

       

      However again you have stated your Xbox will not accept Login wifi but then want a router that can set up login wifi. I am afraid you are very unclear. 

       

      I do not feel buying a router to add into your Dorm with the current setup you have will do what you expect it to do. 

       

      Perhaps by having an EX7000 desktop Extender with 4 lan ports in the back would be better. Without a LAN port connecting you to the network the ONLY way to get a network started in your DORM via LAN is to buy an Extender as you need a way of converting your WiFi signal coming in into a physical device. That then can give a wifi signal or LAN port to directly connect to the network.

       

      An extender will do this a router will not.

        okay so an extender will setup to my login wifi of the dorm(via wifi, not lan), then i will connect my devices with lan? thats it
