Which router to choose now ?
Hello,
By chance, I compared the wan bandwith of my R6220 and WNR2000v5 connected alternatively to a VDSL modem set in bridge mode (and in LAN by Ethernet). There is no doubt that my WNR2000v5 has a better throughput (tested ten times for each router to be sure).
I would like to know if the reason could be the chipset used (on the other side that's Broadcom) or the software only and if I could blindly buy the XR500.
Many thanks for any information
Who knows. I don't pay much attention to speedtests. I am more interested in using the hardware than making measurements. If it works as expected, I'm happy.
Maybe a more technical user can help you.
My point was that the R7800 is likely to deliver the same speed as the XR500, which you listed, and at a much lower price.

The XR500 is a "gamer's" router that runs the DumaOS firmware.
The XR500 hardware is essentially the same as the R7800, which is a lot cheaper.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply. Do you think the R7800 won't have the same behavior as the R6220 (I mean the less wan throughput) ? I am worried about since I didn't firstly paid attention to that point.
