WNDR3700v4 ReadyShare access problems in Windows

Hi,

I'm hoping someone here can help me.

My router WNDR3700v2 recently died and I purchased a replacement WNDR3700v4.

I have a WD external drive that worked fine with v2, but I am having problmes with mapping the drive in Windows with the new router v4.

When I log in to the router, the drive is recognised and appears as:
\\readyshare\USB_Storage    All - no password    All - no password    U:\    Elements    1863.01 GB    311.74 GB

In advanced settings it appears under available and approved drives. On the router home page the Readyshare status shows as ready. The green USB light shows up on the router.

I can access the drive using http://readyshare.routerlogin.net/shares

But it doesn't show in Windows Explorer or MSDOS as a drive.

I tried using readyshareconnect but it fails to find it on the network.

I tried disabling the firewall, but it made no difference. Tried several reboots over the past few days which made no difference.

Running Windows 10, but other laptop using Windows 7 also has the same issue.

Please help. Thank you.

Thanks, but I've sorted the problem.

Decided to go right back and do a factory reset because it was probably the only thing I hadn't tried.  This resolved the problem.

In regard to NAS - I previously had a MyBookWorld NAS storage device and found it to be very troublesome. OK it's a lot faster, but since the drive is mainly used for automatic backups of connected computers, speed wasn't so important as reliability.

Not the answer you're looking but, When you get angry enough you'll dump ready share and buy a NAS. Try reformatting drive while connected to new router. Make sure your HOMEWORK is selected in windows.
