WNDR4500V2 no access

Hi,

Bought this second hand router. Purpose was to strengthen my signal in my attic.

I have a Ziggo connection (i'm Dutch) to my modem (Technicolor) downstairs.

1 LAN cable connected (amongst others) through the walls to the attic.

When i first tested the netgear for the purpose, everything was working as should: Another LAN cable to Laptop + WiFi worked.

Netgear router gave all good LED's.

Then i decided to do a factory reset to wipe out any data from the previous owner. This seemed like a clever idea but turned out to be the problem right now:

No internet coming through and i connot access my router by either typing 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1 or http://www.routerlogin.net...

I read some threads about this and tried the following:

  • Erase browser data
  • Tried multiple browsers
  • Tried both WiFi and LAN connected
  • Tried multiple laptops (Windows 10, 11 and Mac IOS) including Netgear Genie
  • Tried on my iphone both on safari and Nighthawk
  • Did multiple factory resets (push pin for 10 sec) and router boots (even the 'main' Technicolor...

Now i'm out of options and clueless... Please help!!!

My best,

Peter

  • Disconnect the netgear from your pimrary router.

Factory reset it by pushing and holding reset for 7-15 seconds while powered on.

Then (while still disconnected from the router) go through its setup process and set your wireless info.

then (while still disconnected) put the WNDR4500 in access point mode.

At that point, its not handling dhcp/nat and it relies on your primary router for that.

Connect the netgear to your primary router. Connect from a lan port on the primary router to the WAN port on the netgear.

The primary router should assign it an ip address. You'll be able to use that to access it/manage it.

      Thanks for replying!

      Nope..

I must have factory reset it at least 10 times by now. (just to be sure, did it again after your message)

Connected, unconnected, WiFi only, LAN to laptop. All did not work: No access to router settings.
