WNR2000-3XFNAS router won't work unless plugged into the wifi box
I've been trying to set up my router for hours now, and it has a signal but only when its plugged into the wifi box. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of it being a router? How do I fix this? I need to be able to take the router upstairs but it won't work unless its connected to the wifi box I'm super lost please help.

What is this wifi box?
The WNR2000 is an ancient (2008) router that plugs into the modem that gets the Internet to you.
What modem are you using?
While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:SMART Wi-Fi, General and Legacy Routers - NETGEAR Communities
