2.4 v 5.0 - Switching between the two

im trying to activate smart light bulbs with my Google Assistant and the bulb app requires my WIFI to be set to 2.4 GHz. my router is currently set to run on 2.4 AND 5.0. I understand once the bulb and my Google Assistant are paired/connected I can revert back to both frequencies. How do I temporarily suspend or disable the 5.0 GHz set up through the Netgear Genie website?

The Google Assistant does not care about this, no dependency at all. Knowing about the IoJ App product maker would be more interesting. This is where you should complain about this misconception: Decent wireless routers and access points and Mesh systems with one name connect to the very same network, no matter which wireless radio is in use.

The A7000 tagged is a wireless adapter - just like most wireless devices, there is no option to just use one or the other band.

thanks for your reply. I dont understand everything you said re: access points and mesh systems. All I know is the bulb manufacturer (Bright) says "Verify your network and ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi channel. Once you have successfully configured your Bright Smart device to a 2.4GHz network, you can switch back to mixed mode or ....."

I found this page (attached file) on the Router Set-up Genie and wonder if I uncheck/delete the 5GHz check box, save my setting, connect my device, and re-set the 5GHz setting - will this work?

Of course you can disable the 5 GHz wireless radio on the router in this case.

It's a little but difficult to help without information and having a wireless client device (A7000) marked - and not a router.
