2nd Gen Echo Dot + Older Fire Stick will not connect to R7000
Hello,
I've got a 2nd gen Echo Dot that would connect to any other network I've tried, except at my cottage where I have an R7000. I also have an older Fire Stick that will do the same, but a newer Fire Stick will work. Do older Amazon devices require specific port forwarding? I only have 15mbps down/5mbps up where I am. Could it be the ISP? All other devices work on this network. The R7000 was just updated to V1.0.11.136_10.2.120
Thanks!

What modem/gateway is the router connected to?
What firmware is on the router?
Any special characters/spaces in the ssid/password you're using? (if so, remove them)

No. They do require connection to the 2.4 GHz band.
Do you have separate SSID's for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands?
Are you trying to connect to a Guest network?
Do you have Smart Connect enabled?
Like plemans says, keep the SSID's and passwords simple.
