8000P Show on Wifi list but has no Internet Connection

I just installed the 8000P.  I followed the steps on the app.  I connected it to the back of my modem.  The Router is showing on the wifi list but has no internet connection. 2 questions, 1. how do i get it to connect to the internet and 2. does it have to be wired to my modem?

    1. yes it needs to connect by wire to the modem

    2. that question alone makes me suspect your current modem isn't just a modem. What actual modem do you have?

      I have a cable (TWC/Spectrum) modem.  It is a Technicolor TC8717T.

        That modem is a modem/router combo device. 

        it puts you in a double nat.

        options? (only use 1)

        1. put the ISP device in passthrough/modem only mode

        2. put the netgears IP address in the ISP routers DMZ

        3. put the netgear into access point mode.
