About an online app : Netgear Genie

My question is about an app. Not any particular router. I have "Netgear Genie", which seems to contradict itself. It is a download on my computer that about twice a week I get disconnected from internet.. then ckick on fix at netgear genie, and it fixes almost instantly. Problem is : other computers ,and internet on tv apps never quit. On my computer where I have "Netgear Genie" is the only place in my house where I often lose internet. Looks like this app only turns MY connection off...just to fix and turn back on...so to look like it's doing something. ??

Why are you using crappy apps? You don't need Genie to manage your router. Use its Web UI at http://192.168.1.1

The desktop Netgear genie is not a "crappy app", unlike those designed for mobile devices. It has some valuable features that are a pain to deal with in the browser graphical user interface.

Why not give it another try? Sadly, Netgear is making it hard to find.

This still works, but may not by the time you get there.

The Netgear genie, one of the more useful programs that Netgear provides, is detecting  the connection on your device, the PC it is installed on. How is it connected to the Internet? Wired? Wifi?

When this disconnect alert happens, have you looked at the state of the local Internet connection in Windows networking?

Which version of the genie are you on? 2.4.62 seems to be the latest, and probably last.

It will be a shame when it dies. The desktop Netgear Genie is very handy when it comes to quick access to a Network Map and is a heck of a lot better than faffing around with the browser graphical user interface (GUI) when it comes to warning of Internet disconnections. Then there is the ability to flag up whenever a new device joins the network. Not something that the GUI can do.
