AC or AX for my new router?

I'm currently looking for a new router as the one provided by my internet provider keeps cutting out from the amount of devices we use. (4 phones, 3 Gaming consoles, 2 laptops, 7 Google Home devices, TV + 5 other devices)
So I need something with a bit more ooomph to handle all this usage.

I got my eye on the NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 AC3200 or the ASUS RT-AX86S AX5700.
In my understanding the ASUS has Wifi 6 and a higher broadband speed.

Or am I making a massive mistake and am I looking at the wrong indicators to overcome my problem?

Thanks in advance!

I'm a fan of having to much capability versus not enough. and if you're referring to the R8000, it was released in 2014. Its still plenty capable but i'd be choosing an AX router over it. I'd even try looking at amazon as theres a bunch of renewed AX netgear routers on there. Everything from the orbi series to the AX5700. (thats version you have to search by the speed and not the model to find the renewed)

but most half decent routers should support the devices you have listed.

What speeds do you pay for?

What modem/router/gateway's do you currently have?

What actually happens when you're having issues?

Does the issue happen to wired and wireless devices or just wireless?
