Ac3200 X6 R8000 Slow Upload Speed

I have a X6 Ac3200 R8000 and for some reason it has or is capped to 6mb upload.

So OK I have done this so far.

-Reset router to factory settings using the reset button

-Adjust and tweak MTU

-Set QOS to 100mb/100mb and also tried it disabled

-Mess around with rip settings, lan, etc

Result is it does nothing.

So what speed test am I getting?

I am on a 75/75mb fiber dsl on frontier. The router is piggy back to the frontier router, so what I did is make the netgear set DNS for lan and wifi. On the router OoS page it has a speed test and it about:

85/83 on netgear router

85/5 on the pc that is wired to netgear.

85/84 on pc if I wire it directly to the frontier router(which is so upsetting because it is a cheap router vs the R8000)

And I also did the same test for wireless. But I need the R8000 because for the optimized multimedia and gaming plus the wifi range. So not sure that else to do cos I even downgraded the firmware just for the hell of it to see if it makes a difference. And that is a no. So what I finally did is disable dns on R8000 and set it up a AP mode. There was a improvement it now goes to 85/26 still low if the router internal speed test goes to 85/83. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

  • Hi Bitoy004,

There are two routers on the networks which affects the performance of the 2nd router. You can configure the R8000 as AP or set the frontier to modem only if there is an option.

    Hi Bitoy004,

    1. Is it the same issue on all LAN ports of the router?

    2. What is the speed of your wireless devices?

I get the same speed on the upload on LAN or Wifi as long as you connect to the netgear router. But if I connect it to the frontier router I get the full upload speed of my net.

direct connect to frontier router bypassing netgear

      84/83 mbps

connect to netgear piggy back to frontier

      84/6 mbps

      -on AP mode on netgear-

      84/26 mbps

        Hi Bitoy004,

Is the frontier router your modem as well? If yes, can you set the frontier to modem only and let the R8000 set as the router?
